Warmachine Journeyman League

Build your army from the ground up! The Journeyman League takes you from a starter box to a solid army in six weeks. $5 entry, Tuesdays starting May 28.

Over the course of six weeks, players compete for prizes by earning league points. There are three types of league points: game points, hobby points, and journeyman points. Game points are earned for playing against other players in the league using that week’s rules, hobby points are earned for painting models, journeyman points are the sum of game points and hobby points.

Each week, rules are set to restrict the size and general composition of players’ armies. This will help encourage an environment that is enjoyable for players who may take longer to become accustomed to the rules of the game.

When you enter, select a faction. All your army selections and painted models toward your league score must come from this faction.

You can play with the out-of-the-box Battlegroups or use one of the equivalents listed in the official rules (PDF, page 3).

Games played during the league will follow this schedule:

Week Army Composition Scenario
1 Battlegroup box set only Mangled Metal/Claw & Fang
2 15 points: Battlegroup box set contents required Killing Field or No Man’s Land
3 25 points: Battlegroup box set contents required Killing Field or No Man’s Land
4 25 points: Battlegroup box set contents required (‘caster swap allowed) Killing Field or No Man’s Land
5 35 points: Battlegroup box set contents required (original or swapped ‘caster allowed) Killing Field or No Man’s Land
6 35 points: No restrictions Killing Field or No Man’s Land

Just a quick clarafication, the journeyman rules recently went under a revision to update some of the rules. The update changed the scenarios for weeks 2 through 6 to “Killing Field” or “No Man’s Land” as found in the scenario section of the Prime and Primal rule books.

Also, the updated rules include additional options for playing an alternative battlebox/war pack battlegroup.

Got the post updated. It should reflect the current rules now, not last year’s rules.
