Board Game Saturday & Catan Tournament

Another awesome board game Saturday is coming up! Come and play all day on Saturday, May 21. This time, Jeremy and I will offer demos through the day, and top off the evening with a Settlers of Catan tournament starting at 5 pm.

We’ll play three games of Settlers of Catan, limited to 90 minutes each round. Final scores totaled from the three rounds will determine the Most Resourceful Player (i.e., the winner). Entry is $3, and we have some neat prizes to the winner and funnest player.

Demo Games

Throughout the day we’ll run regular demos for a few games.

  • Settlers of Catan every hour from 11 am through 4 pm
  • Trollhalla at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm
  • Lunch Money at Noon, 2 pm and 4 pm

    Yay. :)

We’re planning on running a session of the old Avalon Hill game, Civilization [the original, on which the computer game and all subsequent derivations, including Through The Ages and the new Fantasy Flight “Sid Meier’s Civilization The Board Game”, are based].

It will probably take up to 6-8 hours, but should be awesome. It would be better with more people, so if anyone is looking for a massive game, plan to be there around 10:30 or so. Unlike Magic Realm from last month’s game-day, Civilization shouldn’t take an inordinate amount of time to learn.

Also in tow for after [if] Civ finishes up:

    Rheinlander: Reiner Knizia does Acquire
Khronos: Tigris & Euphrates + Time Travel
Age Of Steam: One of the seminal “train games”
Le Havre: The other “big game” from the Agricola guy
Race For The Galaxy: Plus all the expansions; happy to teach

Also a few card games: Tichu, Mu, the Decktet

Important note! The Catan tournament has been slightly reformatted. We’ll play three 90-minute rounds. The player with the highest total score wins. Prizes still go to the winner and funnest player.
